Frankfurt steht leer – Fotografische Ausstellung und Debatte
Der Immobilieninvestor Franconofurt, dem die Universität Frankfurt dieses Gebäude kritischer Gegenöffentlichkeit andiente, hat in Aussicht gestellt, mit Hilfe von Polizei und Gerichtsvollzieher die folgende Ausstellung und wichtige stadtpolitische Debatte zu verhindern und zu kriminalisieren. Die kulturelle Nutzung und Umwandlung von bestehenden Gebäuden in alternative Lebens – und Kulturräume birgt in Frankfurt ein erhebliches Potenzial an Lebendigkeit, die sich weder am Reißbrett der Projektentwickler planen lässt, sondern Ausdruck emanzipatorischer Stadtpolitik ist.
Die derzeitig vorherrschende oktroyierte Planung verursacht eine Masse an Raum, der in seinen Wirkungen und seiner Nutzbarkeit in grotesker Weise an den Erfordernissen einer lebendigen Stadt vorbei läuft.
Das zeigt sich nicht nur an der prekären Situation von Kulturschaffenden, die bei ihrer verzweifelten Suche nach geeigneten Räumen allein gelassen werden, sondern überdeutlich auch an der Lage auf dem Wohnungsmarkt, der Wohnen nur noch für Privilegierte zulässt. Dadurch wird das Verhältnis zwischen der faktischen Nutzung des Raums auf der einen, und dem wirklichen Bedarf und dem Wert der Teilhabe aller am Raum auf der anderen Seite in eine untragbare Schieflage gebracht.
Diese Ausstellung will mit Bildern von ausgewähltem Leerstand diese Situation dokumentieren und zum Nachdenken anregen: das heißt, zu einer Debatte beitragen, in der über Möglichkeiten der Umnutzung von leer stehenden Gebäuden nachgedacht wird und deren ungenutztes Potenzial offenbar wird.
