Frankfurter Museum für Moderne Kunst veranstaltet die berühmten MMK Talks: The artists. Den im MMK ausgestellten Künstlern wird die Möglichkeit geboten, über ihre Werke in einem Gespräch zu berichten.
Heute durfte man weder fotografieren, noch filmen. Das hat der berühmt-berüchtigte Aktionskünstler Andreas Slominski ausdrucklich untersagt. Er hatte seine Gründe. Er war heute nämlich an der Reihe mit dem Zwiegespräch über die Kunst.
Slominski hat seit Achziger jede Menge Dinge verbrochen:
* er stellte in MMK seinen berühmten mit Plastiktüten vollbepackten Fahrrad ab, eine detailgetreue Abbildung eines Obdachlosen-Fahrwerks. Ein Selbstbildnis, wie Slominski sein Werk charakterisierte. Ein Selbstbildnis nannte er auch das Original von einem Obdachlosen-Fahrrad, den er geparkt auf der Zeil eines Tages sah. Selbstbildnis. Subtil und tiefgreifend.
*mit seiner Hilfe verschwand der “schönste Elfmeterpunkt” von einem Stadion (Slominski grub ihn schlichtweg aus)
* angeblich (vereinzelten Gerüchten zufolge) soll er im berühmten Bremerhavener Kabinett für aktuelle Kunst eine Hand in die Wand eingemauert haben.
Ein vielseitiger Schaffender, also.
Und so sass der Moderator Mario Kramer (Sammlungsleiter des MMK) bereits auf der Bühne. Er wartete auf Godot Slominskij.
- Ob er kommt? – fragte Mario Kramer fast nicht mehr rhetorisch das Publikum.
Doch da kam Slominski. Slominski kam langsam. Slominski stieg die Bühne hoch. Slominski setzte sich auf den Sessel nieder. Slominski schwieg.
Mario Kramer stellte Slominski vor. Die Ausstellungen und Projekte Slominskis sorgen für genug Zündstoff und irritierte Zuschauer, sagte Mario Kramer. Slominski schwieg.

Mario Kramer setzte fort: Metro Pictures Gallery befindet sich in dem kulturellen Brennpunkt New Yorks. Doch während die anderen kommerziellen Gallerien drumherum zum grössten Teil dekorativen Werke für Vorstand-Etage ausstellen, trug die Ausstellung Slominski einen schlichten und schockierenden Titel: “Sperm“. Slominski schwieg.
Deswegen ist es besser, riet Mario Kramer, ein Kurzvideo anzuschauen, das ein Besucher der Ausstellung gemacht hat. Und der Beamer leuchtete auf. Der neutrale Gesprächspartner (keine Interpretationen, aber auch kein Schweigen).
Slominski schwieg. Die Ausstellung “Sperm”, setzte Mario Kramer fort, öffnete am 12. September 2012. Einen Tag nach dem einschlägigen Jahrestag. Sie ist, setzte Mario Kramer fort, ein Umriss der amerikanischen Geschichte, ein komplexes Amerikabild. “Andreas, wie hast Du eigentlich damals Amerika wahrgenommen?” – richtete Mario Kramer seine Frage an Slominski. Und Slominski antwortete:

Nicht dass Slominski die ganze Zeit geschwiegen hat. Er hat aber auch kaum was gesagt. Er hatte wohl etwas gegen die Ergänzungsfragen. Wo? Was? Wer? All diese Fragestellungen ließen ihn kalt. Er schaute in die Ferne und lächelte ab und zu. Zu den Entscheidungsfragen war er gnädiger: Ja? Nein? Ja. Nein. Doch vor allem verwehrte er die Antwort auf die Kronfrage, die Mario Kramer wie ein Ritual nach jeder Beschreibung eines weiteres Projektes von Slominski stellte: “Welcher Künstler hat dich zu dieser Ausstellung inspiriert? Wen zählst du zu deinen Lehrern? Bei welchem Professor hast du eigentlich abgeschlossen?” Die Antwort war stets:

All diese Banalia – über das künstlerische Werden; darüber, was der Autor mit seinem Werk sagen wollte; darüber, wer den Autor auf seinem Schaffesnwege beeinflusste; darüber, ob es Kunst sei oder weg solle – all diese profanen Oberflächlichkeiten wehrte Slominski mit dem Schutzschild seines Schweigens ab. Und Mario Kramer kramte ausgerechnet solche Fragen hervor. Er ist Sammlungsleiter des MMKs. Er weiss, was er tut.
“Sind Sie hier überhaupt freiwillig?” – fragte ein geladener älterer Herr aus dem Publikum.
“Ich bin aus Freundschaft hier” – erwiderte Slominski – “Ich sehe aber kein besonderes Bedürfnis, etwas sagen zu müssen.”
Der MMK Talk wurde zu einem MMK Anti-Talk, zu einem Selbstgespräch des Moderators. Das Publikum wurde unruhig. Die ersten gingen. Und zu aller Übel ist mir die Tinte ausgegangen. 
Mario Kramer liess sich aber nicht beeindrucken, er setzte seine Beschreibung von Slominskis künstlerischen Schaffen fort. Er interpretierte auf eine irrsinnige Art und Weise Slominskis Aktionen, so dass die Hälfte des Publikums auf dem Boden vom Lachen rollte, die andere Hälfte begann, den Saal des heiligen Kunstaltars namens Museum zu verlassen. In ihren ästhetischen Gefühlen verletzt und entzaubert. Denn Slominski schwieg.
Ein älteres Paar fügte hinzu, als sie an Mario Kramer vorbei gingen: “Vielen Dank für die vergelblichen Mühen“.
Doch Mario Kramer sprach bereits über die Slominskis Faszination für Fallen: Fuchsfallen, Iltisfallen, und sogar die berühmte “Fanganlage für Wildschweine“, die im MMK ausgestellt war und den kompletten Gebäudeumriss von MMK darstellte.
“Ob wir unser Publikum in die Falle gelockt haben?” – fragte Mario Kramer Slominski.
“Ob Sie selbst in der Falle sind?” – fragte das Publikum Mario Kramer (im Bezug auf seine einsame Moderatorposition).
“Bin ich selbst in der Falle?” – fragte Slominski sich selbst. Ja, er sprach.
“Ist es hier eine Performance?” – stellte diese mega-peinliche Meta-Frage eine Dame aus dem Publikum, worauf Slominski antwortete:

Eine einzig angemessene und weise Antwort. Fürwahr.
“Wussten Sie, worauf Sie sich einlassen?” – fragte ein weiterer Empörter aus dem Publikum Mario Kramer.
“Bei Andreas weiß man nie so genau” – erwiderte Mario Kramer – “Wir könnten auch als zwei Osterhasen verkleidet dieses Gespräch führen. Aber, als Abschluss unseres Talks, was mich doch all die Jahre quält, Andreas, ist die Frage: hast du damals im Bremerhavener Kabinett für aktuelle Kunst tatsächlich eine Hand eingemauert?”
Slominski überlegte. Slominski schaute das Publikum an. Slominski schaute Mario Kramer an. Slominskis Antwort war:

Die Werke finde ich ersteinmal nicht besonders interessant. Jedenfalls nach der Beschreibung und nach dem Video — in der direkten Konfrontation kann so etwas immer noch etwas ganz anderes sein und das wäre dann sogar ein Qualitätsmerkmal.
Aber das Schweigen während des “Talks”: Respekt! Respekt und — Dankbarkeit!
Dinge werden verborgen hinter einem Schutzwall des Redens. Außerdem ist es eine Pest, dass, weil wohl niemand mehr einen Sinn in der Kunst sieht, noch sich dafür überhaupt interessiert, die Person des Künstlers zum Zentrum des gesamten Diskurses wird.

Schöner Artikel! ah, da wäre ich gerne dabei gewesen…bin immer etwas gespalten bei solchen auftritten, weil die Verweigerung gegenüber der erwartung natürlich die aura des genialischen, unangepassten noch verstärkt….erstaunlich, dass Kramer so getan hat “als wäre nichts”. Übrigens hat Warhol -wie so vieles-schon vorgemacht, wie man interviews sabotiert.(Ich liebe insbesondere die naive Frage der Interviewerin, ob er denkt, dass Popart allmählich repetetiv wird, worauf er mit kurzem Grinsen: ” Ja” antwortet (Die Wiederholung ist ja Warhols Credo). Sehr schön auch das kurze: Eh…vor jeder antwort.

Ich muss Euch allen zustimmen: das Schweigen war – und ist immer – eine ausgezeichnete Antwort.
Wobei natürlich, das Schweigen, als Antwortverweigerung, beinahe fast schon zu einem klassischen Topos vieler Künstler geworden ist (s. Warhol oben). Man denke auch an den Netzkünstler Gheorghe Dan (die Person hinter dem virtuellen Kunst-hacker Netochka Nezvanova). Er stellte in Singapur auf einer Conference sein neu entwickeltes Betriebssystem Balkan.OS. Der Saal war voll, das Publikum wartete. Der Künstler selbst ist aber nicht erschienen.

И ни одна девочка не согласится с песней, что вот, мол, «не родись красивой, а родись счастливой». Каждая хочет быть красивой и знает: это и есть самый короткий путь к счастью. А дурнушки пусть читают на школьных вечерах Заболоцкого про то, что такое красота: «Сосуд она, в котором пустота, или огонь, мерцающий в сосуде». Скучно и нужно только для тех, кому не повезло.
Фраза пришлась кстати. Вот, например, в книге или в кино сразу видно, когда появляется предатель или бандит. Руки у него потеют, улыбка фальшивая, брюки и рукава куртки короткие, наигранный смех, а взгляд при этом отводит в сторону — обдумывает, как бы лучше обмануть. Остальные герои просто наивные, не сразу замечают. Но мы-то видим сразу. Да и в жизни тот, кто нам неприятен, имеет, как правило, отталкивающие манеры, внешность и даже фамилию. По манере одеваться легко можно определить, кто щелкопер, а кто кинозвезда.
Но все мы еще при этом и идеалисты, ибо свято убеждены в собственной нравственной непорочности. Искренне верим в то, что говорим, и думаем, что думаем то, что думаем в данную минуту, а хотим того, чего хотят все хорошие люди на земле. Тут и соображать ничего не надо — достаточно посмотреть в глаза, которые ведь никогда не лгут (эта поговорка годилась).
Боже, с какой наивностью и бесстрашием можно было тогда предложить посмотреть в глаза и как хороша была жизнь в лучезарно-одномерном мире!
